AmneziaWG client for macOS: VeilBox beta compatibility

If you need an AmneziaWG client for macOS, distinguish a downloadable Mac build from verified AmneziaWG runtime support. VeilBox has a published Apple Silicon DMG labelled 2.1.0 beta. The available tagged AmneziaWG runtime uses Windows services, so the DMG alone is not evidence that an AmneziaWG connection works on macOS.

What is actually available

The public VeilBox-2.1 release contains VeilBox_2.1.0_aarch64.beta.dmg. It is an Apple Silicon beta asset, not a macOS 2.2.0 installer. The newer Windows 2.2.0 release includes an x64 Windows installer. Versions differ by platform, and this page keeps those download choices separate.

A beta is appropriate for evaluating a build whose limitations you have checked. It is not a promise of feature parity with Windows or confirmation that every profile type will connect. Neither an Intel Mac build nor a minimum macOS version is established by the published asset name.

Why the platform distinction matters

The AmneziaWG connection code in the published tags launches amneziawg.exe and installs a Windows tunnel service. Those operations do not establish a macOS network extension or Mac-compatible tunnel. Windows administrator relaunch and Wintun instructions therefore do not become Mac instructions when a DMG exists.

Importing a configuration and establishing a connection are different capabilities. A UI may accept an [Interface]/[Peer] configuration while the platform still lacks a usable backend for that profile. Do not assume that a successful import means your Mac traffic is passing through AmneziaWG.

How to evaluate the beta without guessing settings

  1. Use the official Apple Silicon beta download or open its release notes. Confirm that the asset matches your Mac and that you accept using a beta.
  2. Check the project's current support guidance for the exact build, supported macOS version and AmneziaWG runtime. If those details are missing, ask the project before relying on the build for this protocol.
  3. Keep your provider's original configuration intact. If a supported runtime becomes available, use the complete export with matching AmneziaWG parameters rather than a VLESS UUID or Reality key.
  4. Verify connectivity and routing with the actual application and destinations you use. Keep private keys and subscription tokens out of public screenshots or issue reports.

When AmneziaWG on Mac is your immediate requirement

Use the Amnezia project's own macOS client documentation as another compatibility reference. Its platform support does not automatically apply to VeilBox. Match the protocol version used by your server to the client implementation; AmneziaWG adds parameters beyond a plain WireGuard configuration.

VeilBox remains a client for a server you control or obtain from a provider. Downloading the beta does not create a VPN account, provide free servers or configure an AmneziaWG endpoint for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download VeilBox for macOS now?

Yes. The published Apple Silicon asset is VeilBox_2.1.0_aarch64.beta.dmg in the VeilBox-2.1 release. It remains a beta and is separate from the Windows 2.2.0 installer.

Does this prove AmneziaWG works in the macOS beta?

No. The inspected tagged runtime is Windows-specific. End-to-end AmneziaWG functionality in that macOS binary has not been verified here, so this page does not offer a working Mac tunnel setup recipe.

Can I use a Windows AmneziaWG tutorial on macOS?

Windows service installation, amneziawg.exe and Wintun steps do not apply to macOS. Use instructions for a verified Mac runtime and the exact beta build instead.

Is AmneziaWG the same as WireGuard?

AmneziaWG is derived from WireGuard and adds traffic obfuscation. A server's AmneziaWG parameters and protocol version must be supported by the client; do not assume every WireGuard client can consume an AmneziaWG export.

Windows: 2.2.0. macOS Apple Silicon: 2.1.0 beta. VeilBox does not include VPN servers. Downloading the beta does not confirm AmneziaWG runtime support on your Mac.
